Clara Gil (*1985, Madrid) is an actress, puppeteer, and performer specializing in physical theatre. She graduated from the Royal School of Dramatic Arts (R.E.S.A.D.) in Madrid in 2015, following her earlier academic background in education. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Pedagogy (2006) and a Bachelor's degree in Psychopedagogy (2009), both from the Complutense University of Madrid.
She has worked in France, specializing in puppetry and object manipulation, and deepened her expertise with the Philippe Genty company in Paris. Since then, she has contributed to the creation of puppets and objects for various productions. Clara was a member of Compagnie Trottvoir and has collaborated with the collective Leerraum.offen, focusing on movement, mask work, and marionettes, while also offering her perspective as a dramaturg and external eye. Additionally, she has worked as a prop master at Luzerner Theater.
She is a member of dubistdu, where visual art, live-coded music, and movement converge in improvised performances. In 2025, she co-founded the multidisciplinary Kollektive Hintertür.
In parallel with her artistic career, Clara is a social pedagogue with Verein LISA, advocating for the rights of sex workers in Lucerne. She co-directed Supervistas Luzern in its Season 24-25, a project that engages young people in the performing arts.
In her own artistic work, the journey each project takes is more meaningful to her than the final product. She embraces a working methodology that is as gentle and tender as possible. Her focus lies in creating art with a strong sense of sustainability. She is drawn to light and shadow, to the strange and unusual. She is intrigued by small, often unnoticed details, and by the political layers hidden within simple things.
